17th ASEF University, Cultural Heritage: Challenges and Opportunities

The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) and the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) are pleased to invite qualified individuals from Asia and Europe to participate in the 17th ASEF University (AU17) themed "Cultural Heritage: Challenges and Opportunities".


You are ELIGIBLE to apply if you are:

  • A citizen of any ASEM country 
  • A student or a young professional
  • Between 18-30 years old
  • Proficient in the English language (written and verbal)
  • Knowledgeable/experienced in basic photo and video editing
  • Studying or working in the general fields of:
    • Fine Arts
    • Arts Management
    • Architecture
    • Archaeology 
    • History
    • Museology
    • Communication / Media
    • Language and Literature

How to apply for AU17?

  1. Submit your online application form
  2. Email following attachments in a single ZIP or RAR file with this filename format:
    COUNTRY of Citizenship_FIRSTName_ LASTName_AU17_Documents.zip or .rar
    • 1-page Resume
    • Face photo (in .JPG format; >70 KB)
    • Transcript of records (in .JPG format; >70 KB)

What happens if you get shortlisted?

  • ASEF will send you a notification via email. You will be scheduled to have a conversation with one of our staff

When will you know the results?

  • A final list of candidates will be posted on www.asef.org within the 2nd week of May 2011.

When is the deadline for applications?

  • Monday, 02 May 2011, 1200H Singapore time
ASEF and USM will cover the accommodation and meal costs, including all local travel arrangements (related to AU17) in Penang.

Selected participants will receive a 50% travel subsidy with a cap of EUR 250 for participants coming from Asia, and EUR 500 for those coming from Europe. (see “Important Note” section on the online application form for full description).
